WHO QualityRights Moves from CoorpAcademy to WHO Academy — What You Need to Know

The World Health Organization (WHO) has officially transitioned its QualityRights e-training platform from CoorpAcademy to the new WHO Academy learning hub.

This shift reflects WHO’s broader strategy to centralize global health education and strengthen access to training on mental health, human rights, and recovery-oriented care.

If you are a mental health professional, advocate, policymaker, or lived experience leader, here’s what has changed — and how to navigate the new platform.

What Is WHO QualityRights?

WHO QualityRights is a global initiative aimed at:

  • Improving the quality of mental health and related services
  • Promoting human rights in care settings
  • Supporting recovery-oriented, person-centered approaches

The program includes core and specialized training modules covering:

  • Human rights in mental health
  • Legal capacity and supported decision-making
  • Recovery planning
  • Ending coercive practices
  • Peer support and service transformation

The training is widely used by primary health care workers, service providers, advocates, and lived experience experts across the globe.

Why the Platform Change?

Previously, QualityRights training was hosted on CoorpAcademy, an external learning management system. While effective for global rollout, it operated separately from WHO’s broader digital learning strategy.

With the launch of the WHO Academy, WHO has consolidated its training resources into one unified system. The objectives behind this transition include:

  • Creating a centralized learning ecosystem
  • Improving scalability and long-term sustainability
  • Enhancing user experience and integration
  • Hosting multiple WHO courses under one platform

In short, the content remains strong — the delivery system is now stronger and more integrated.

Module Structure

The core themes remain unchanged, including:

  • Human rights foundations
  • Legal capacity
  • Freedom from coercion
  • Recovery and person-centered care
  • Peer support and advocacy

However, the presentation, navigation tabs, and learner flow may feel different due to the new platform layout.
