Project Overview
The EMPOWER project targets to increase social inclusion of people with lived experience of mental health conditions.
Over the next 3 years (2024 to 2026) the project plans to establish a well-supported youth movement where youth with lived experience are trained and supported through government structures to challenge mental health stigma starting from 3 regional hubs and snowballing to smaller towns and rural communities.
To provide effective support to the youth with lived experience, training will be provided to lay mental health service providers including community health promoters, lay volunteer counsellors and others in the primary health care system as well as support services including occupational therapists and medical social workers.
