Project Overview
The EQuaLISED project being implemented in Kilifi County is aimed at Enhancing Quality Living: Inclusive Systems Enabling Disability inclusion in access to rights and services with a focus on mental health.
This project is meant to build on the success of the Inclusive Communities project (2021 to 2024) that sought to increase access to rights and participation of people with disabilities on personal, community and societal levels.
The project targets the outputs below:
- Community attitude towards people with diverse disabilities especially those with mental health & psychosocial disabilities is increasingly positive
- Improved mental health and well-being support for children with disabilities in schools in Kilifi County.
- Representative organizations of persons with disabilities (OPD’s) are strengthened and are championing for the mental health and well-being in their communities.
- People with disabilities have increased access to mental health & psychosocial support services.
- People with disabilities are accessing inclusive health services, including mental health supports.
- Increased economic well-being of people with disabilities particularly those with mental health conditions & psychosocial disabilities and their families.
- People with disabilities are achieving entrepreneurial and vocational skills and engaging in new business opportunities and earning a living.
- Strengthening OPD representation in inclusive emergency preparation and response.
- Increased commitment of national and regional government bodies in the implementation of mental health laws and policies for the general public and people with psychosocial disabilities.
